INSTRUCTIONS:  A pad of paper was passed around to each participant.  They were asked to do the following:

THIS IS THE JAYCEE STORY THEY CREATED

It was a dark and stormy night. There were several Jaycees gathered at a remote location. They were writing their C.P.G.s. They were dressed in spooky clothes. Realizing as the tide rolled in, "Size Matters." A nudist walked by.

"I can't believe I pay dues to volunteer to do this!" the nudist said to himself. "I ran a great project, everyone except a couple of people told me so and now I am out here completely naked putting my C.P.G. together for the state." the nudist continued, "If they only knew!"

If they only knew how incredibly special this project was. "I know how incredibly special this project was." the nudist thought, "but how can I communicate that? I must answer question #10 strongly. Then everyone will know."

As the nudist sat in a depression, a guy named Mike appeared in the distance. Mike, noticing the nudist, asked him what he was doing. The nudist replies in a very reflective manner, "I am growing. I am growing as if I were a sapling 2 days ago and today I am a Sequoia. I have learned much from you Mike and Tina. I have learned from myself, I have learned from my brother and sister Jaycees. My chi feels very strong."

And the nudist feeling his strong chi arose and began walking into the distance. Then Mike and Tina were confused, "Should we follow, should we take off our clothes, or should we do both?" "Oh what the heck lets do both since we downed a bottle of Tequila and I just don't care anymore," said Mike.

The key to leadership training is teaching others by taking an active part in the task and always expecting more of yourself and the group that just average. So without their clothes but with C.P.G. in hand they wandered toward the State Convention. As they came in the door, they were a little overwhelmed by all of the training opportunities available. And since they were still in the nude, they were able to attract a lot of attention from fellow convention goers and prospective training participants.

So they began to present the C.P.G to the crowd and all of a sudden someone yelled, "FIRE FIRE, EVACUATE!" All of the participants ran around the parking lot naked and said, "Let's go to the Hot Tub with Chris Hardee!"

Someone did call the fire department about the fire and then joined the crowd at the Hot Tub and they talked about their experiences with C.P.G. training.

As everyone looked in wonder, an old 70's style van with the fading words, "Mystery Machine" written on the side pulled up and a group of aging hippies and their geriatric dog jumped out and hobbled towards the Hot Tub.

When they saw the naked Jaycees they screamed, "Ah Ha, people like us!" and wasted no time losing their clothes Mike and Tina were filled with confidence. Instantly their trainees took the cue and introduced themselves to the people in the van, "We're so glad you came." We have seen you on TV. We're ready to train you." As he handed each of them a blue book, Mike beamed -- they had passed it on.

THE END

If you want to build a ship, then don’t drum up men to gather wood, give orders, and divide the work. Rather teach them to yearn for the far and endless sea.
